Windpaint
Generation

Studio

Generate from the dashboard: the Create page, copying a request as curl, animating an image, and the Runs and Assets pages.

The dashboard at app.windpaint.ai has a studio for running generations by hand. It calls the same API you do, with the same models, prices and projects, so anything you make there is an ordinary job and asset you can reach from code. It’s the quickest way to try a prompt before scripting it.

Everything in the studio happens inside the project selected in the project switcher. Jobs you run land in that project, and the pages below only show that project’s jobs and assets.

Create

Create is the studio’s main page. Across the top is a tab per capability: Image, Video, and the capabilities that don’t have a model yet (Edit, Segment, Upscale, Speech, Lip sync, Text), which are shown disabled.

The left panel builds the request:

  • Prompt, with the capability’s hint for what the prompt means. Press ⌘ + Enter (Ctrl + Enter) to generate.
  • Input slots, such as the video’s start frame. Add opens an asset picker that lists this project’s assets of the right kind and lets you upload a new file.
  • Model, shown when a capability has more than one model.
  • Aspect ratio, Resolution and Duration, limited to what the selected model accepts.
  • Advanced → Seed. Leave it empty for a random seed; set one to reproduce a result.
  • Estimate: the live credit price and output size for the current settings, from POST /v1/generation/estimate. It updates as you change the model, tier, aspect ratio or duration.

Generate stays disabled with a reason underneath until the request is complete (no prompt, a missing required input, or a model that isn’t available right now).

The right panel shows the selected job large, with its status, model, size, credits and age, and up to twelve recent jobs for the same capability as tiles below it. A running job has a Cancel button. A finished one has Download and, for images, Animate. Recent jobs include the ones you submitted with an API key in this project, not only the studio’s own.

The studio starts the aspect ratio at 1:1 on every tab, including Video, and always sends it explicitly. The API’s own default for video is 16:9, so a request copied from the studio and a bare API call can differ if you don’t set aspect_ratio.

Copy as curl

Under the Generate button, API request expands the exact request the studio is about to send, as a curl command:

curl -X POST https://api.windpaint.ai/v1/generation/capabilities/image.generate \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $WINDPAINT_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "z-image-turbo",
    "prompt": "sculptural silver silk, soft light",
    "aspect_ratio": "1:1",
    "resolution": "1k",
    "seed": 42
  }'

Copy puts it on your clipboard. Set WINDPAINT_API_KEY to an API key and it runs as is. Input assets appear in inputs by id. The command doesn’t carry a project header; it runs in your organization’s default project unless you add -H "X-Windpaint-Project: <slug>" or "project_id", and input assets must be in the project it runs in. The studio doesn’t set webhook_url; add it yourself if you want one.

Animate

Animate on a finished image switches to the Video tab with that image already in the start frame slot. Write a motion prompt and generate. It’s the dashboard version of passing an image output’s id as start_frame; see Video. The same button is on images in the Assets page.

Runs

Runs lists everything that ran in the project, newest first: single generation jobs and product runs together. Each row shows the capability or product name, a source tag, the model, status, credits (the charged amount once finished, the estimate before) and when it started. Load more pages further back.

The tabs filter by where the work came from:

FilterShows
AllEverything
StudioJobs submitted from the Create page
APIJobs submitted with an API key: your code, the CLI, the MCP server and agent skills
WorkflowProduct runs

Opening a generation job takes you to Create with that job selected. Opening a product run shows its outputs, each step with its status, and a Cancel run button while it’s running.

The same list is available from the API as GET /v1/runs?source=studio|api|workflow; see Runs.

Assets

Assets shows every file in the project, generated outputs and uploads, as a grid with filters for All, Images, Video and Audio. Upload with the Upload button or by dropping files anywhere on the page; the same types and 50 MiB limit as the upload API apply.

Opening an asset shows a preview and its kind, source, content type, size, dimensions, duration, creation time and the job that produced it, with:

  • Download to save the file.
  • Animate (images only) to open it as a video start frame in Create.
  • Copy ID to paste the asset id into an API request’s inputs.

Assets can’t be deleted from the dashboard, the same as the API.
